Signal Radio contd...
I met John Evington on the Wednesday afternoon, the meeting went well and he closed it by asking me what I was doing on Friday night, he then offered me the overnight shift which was broadcast by Signal 1, Signal Gold and Signal Cheshire.
Apart from a tour around Beacon and sitting in with Niel Jackson, I had never been in a radio studio before, unless you count hospital radio, but that was just weird ...
And here I was, about to get my first break, admittedly it was between 2am and 7am - but that didn’t matter to me, I was going to be on the radio !
The show passed fairly uneventfully which was good. I was subsequently offered various fill-in work in the evenings and at weekends for the next few months. On Christmas day 1994 I started the evening show on Signal Gold - which until then had been an automated programme from Supergold. It was really good to have my own show at last.
